JPEGs Disappear after Rendering in FCP
I’m working on a short video with a JPEG slideshow at the end. Pretty simple stuff, just doing a Ken Burns effect on the pics. However, after I render the video, about half of the JPEGs just disappear and turn to black. I’ve tried saving them as TIFFS and replacing the images, I’ve tried turning the pics into their own QT movies and dropping that back into the timeline and nothing works. It all looks great until I render and then it turns to black. This is only happening with about half the pics I originally used. Any ideas on why this is happening and how I fix it? Thanks.

Here’s the thing…here at work we are having the SAME issue. Render the pics, they vanish and go black. But the thing is, it only happens on ONE machine. I open the same project on my machine and render and things are just fine. And we have trashed preferences and repaired permissions and everything. So we know it is an issue with the computer…and when the project finishes, we’ll be wiping it and installing from scratch. Or rather, we’ll be cloning a system drive here that is working, and use that.

What is the pixel resolution of the stills? I had this issue once on one particular image. It was close to 5,000 pixel width. I made a tiff of the jpeg, reducing the with to around 2K and the render problem went away. It also was much quicker to render.
I also had moves on the image. Perhaps the movement on a big file is a bug.
