Jittrey Footage From FCP to a DVD
YES – I’ve searched far and wide through these forums, but none of the threads seem to answer my question.
My timeline is HD…
1920×1080

Compressor: DVCPRO HD 1080i60The timeline contains all sorts of source footage, which I’m sure is the culprit. It contains 1080iHDV, anamorphic 16×9 DV NTSC and regular 3:2 DV NTSC footage.
Usually, I will just play with the shift fields filter and hope that’s what will fix it. It looks like the only footage I’m still having trouble with is the SD footage, but only if I applied speed changes to it. For example, if I slow a clip down, speed it up, use a variable speed, etc – it looks perfect playing from my timeline, but jittery once on the DVD.
After I export to QuickTime, I compress to MPEG-2, with a 16×9 aspect ratio. I then go into DVDSP and burn that m2v file. Then Bam! Jitters on those shots…
Any thoughts??

Yes, it has been covered on this forum, but it may have been hard to find. An upper field sequence with lower field footage (in your case the DV) will not do vari speed properly as the frame blending happens before the shift field plugin.
The easy way to fix this is to copy paste the DV shots with speed changes into a lower field DV sequence. Remove all attributes but the speed change and then make quicktime files of each shot. Import the shots back into the HD timeline. I usually paste them on a track above the original shots so I can copy the attributes into the new quicktime replacement files. So apart from the speed changes, all grading and framing attributes are then rendered in HD

Did you check to see it didn’t have a shift field filter accidentally applied? Also HDV can get the jitters on fast movement but that looks different to field order jitter.
Is it happening on an HDV speed change shot? If so try experimenting with turning frame blending on or off and see if that renders smoother. Some speeds just look better with frame blend off. Not sure why.
