JFK TV Special Tonight
If anyone is interested – JFK: Inside The Evidence 1 hour special airs tonight on REELZ. I cut the 52 min. show solo over the past few weeks 100% in Adobe CC. I was using a funky Mac Pro 6 core with GTX 680 that kept freezing on me but Premiere, AE and Photoshop were all great. I even did the basic mix in Premiere and the Pro Tools guy was baffled as to what needed to be done lol.
The show has a ton of archive photos and clips along with clips from the doc JFK: The Smoking Gun. All the moves on photos etc. were done 100% on the Premiere timeline and I used a little Colorista II and Fast Color Corrector here and there to get some levels back into a lot of the archive footage.
Overall very happy with Premiere CC and will roll right into a documentary starting today having tested Premiere with raw Red footage and being able to cut in realtime without a Red Rocket card.
I also just used Premiere CC for a major re-edit of the feature film “Like a Country Song” starring Billy Ray Cyrus among others. It was started on an Avid, then went to FCP 7 and I took it into Premiere CC which worked great for the edit. All Alexa shot Pro Res 444 2k.

Tapeless thankfully. We shipped a Pro Res file via drive and sent the 4 reels via Aspera directly to the broadcast center – pretty cool.

I love it when they take tapeless. My only issue with it is when you export the final…watch it, catch a spelling error or some glitch…and need to re-export the WHOLE THING AGAIN after fixing. Unlike tape we can’t insert edit.

Sadly this happened today just hours before the broadcast – I was able to render a small in to out and FTP the QT to Albuquerque in time to cut it in and encode for broadcast. This would have been really tough with tape…
