  • jerky stills when applying motion or image pan

I’ve posted a short clip of a scanned image here

The problem I’m having (off and on since I purchased 6.5 four years ago)is that when I apply a motion or an image pan effect to certain stills, I get poor results such as the jerking/twiching you see in this clip. The still was made from a 4×6 picture and was scanned at 100dpi. For this demonstration I applied a slight zoom using the motion effect. Image pan sometimes produces the same problems. The project settings match up with the exception of the render portion. Under the clips/stills column it shows “unknown”. I don’t know if this is because of the source. I get the same problem when rendering out to TV, AVI, or MPEG. But again it only happens with certain scanned images. For instance this still is part of a video containing 37 stills. It is one of 3 that exhibit the problem but I have the motion or image pan on more than that. I’ve tried them as .psd, .jpg and .tif.

Here’s the specs of my machine:

    Mobo: Asus A7V8X-X, AMD Athalon XP 2400+ 2GHz & 1GB DDR-ram
Windows XP Home(same problem when running win2k)
2 Western Digital HD- 40GB for OS / 120GB 7200rpm for captures and edits only (set as master of secondary IDE channel)
    ATI Radeon 9700 series
    Sound Blaster Live

Hope I’ve covered everything and thanks for any ideas on this.
