    i’ve had my DVX-100 for almost three years…cleaning???

    do you send it off to have the heads cleaned and basic maintenance, or should i use a Mini-DV head cleaner?

    I don’t have a warranty any longer, so i’d be paying for any service work, but it may be time.

    Does anyone here have a regular cleaning/maintenance routine?

    I subscribe to the If-it-aint-broke-don’t-fix-it philosphy. One way to insure it don’t break in the first place is to follow the manual for recommended service.

    If you’re not experiencing any issues, using the tape cleaner per instructions is a good thing. If something is happening that’s causing you to question the unit, then perhaps service by qualified techs will pay for itself when you don’t have to cancel an important gig because your gear doesn’t work.
