I’m working on project that I imported from FCP7 into Premiere Pro CC.

The problem is that some of my stereo audio files got placed on to two audio tracks the way they are in FCP7.

But since you can stereo files on the same audio track, can anyone tell me how to take a stereo file that’s on two audio tracks in PPCC and simply put it on one track. Right now my timeline looks like this…too much clutter…stereo files needlessly taking up two track when they should be on one:

Right click on the clip in the project bin, modify, audio, set to 1 track/stereo. You’ll have to replace the clips in the timeline then as these changes only affect the clip going forward–not the ones that are already in the timeline.

You can’t. The way Premiere deals with audio is set in the preferences and is not retrospective.

You’re actually better off sticking to how you currently have it, with your stereo split over different tracks.
The way premiere puts a stereo file onto one track is completely stupid and unnecessary.
