So I just dumped on my PC a bunch of family footage recorded on a Panasonic camcorder at 60p AVCHD. I now want to send to family members some videos so I’m doing quick conversions to MP4 format using Adobe Media Encoder with these settings: Match Bitrate, .H264, VBR:2Pass, and Max Render Quality. The files look well, just as good after conversion as the original .MTS files (AVCHD), yet are only half the file size.

Is it OK for me to delete the original .MTS files since the .MP4s are so seemingly on par in terms of quality, and just keep those converted copies as my archives?
