  • Issues with “Output Modes” in Digital Cut Tool

Hello, please forgive the rookie question, but I’ve never had to print to tape with Avid Express Pro before, and I’m struggling to output a sequence to my Sony DV Cam deck, going through a firewire cable. Avid is recognizing the deck. I know this, because I do have device control over the deck. What I can’t do is use the Digital Cut Tool to record out. When I click on the red button to “Play Digital Cut”, I get a message telling me that there are “no available output modes”. The “Output Mode” drop down button is deselected and says “No Output Modes”.

Is the issue that this version of Avid is incompatible with DV Cam decks? Could it be that my sequence is a 23.976 sequence created from 14-1 OMF files, rather than DV files?

Any thoughts or suggestions, most appreciated!

    What deck are you using?

More than likely it’s your frame rate. I’m not familiar at all with anything other than 29.97, but I’ve seen other posts regarding this. Can you make a new project at 29.97 and do a digital cut?
