I’m brand new to the AJA Io. Loaded the software on my Macbook Pro, hooked up my Beta SX laptop deck to the Io via SDI and RS422 and connected the Io to the Macbook via firewire. All is good at this point.

I can’t seem to get the computer or Final Cut to recognize the deck. In East Setups I selected: AJA Io- NTSC US SDI A-V 8 Bit uncompressed. A window pops up stating: Unable to locate capture device PRO Io Uncompressed 8 bit 422 video. A second window comes up stating: Computer does not have any serial ports matching those specified by the current device control preset. You will need to set port.

Under Video and Audio settings my sequence preset is DV NTSC 48khz. The capture preset is AJA Io SDI a/v 8 bit to DV 48khz. The device control I selected is AJA Io RS422 NTSC. For video playback I selected Digital Cinema Display Full Screen (assuming this would mean the laptop’s screen). for audio output I chose Default.

The lights on the front of the AJA Io box are as follows: Status: Power-green, Firewire-blue, NTSC-blue. Mode: In-blue. Video in: Present- green, SDI- blue. Audio in: Present-green. SDI-blue.

If any one has suggestions on what I am doing wrong or what I can do differently inorder to get video to the computer… I sure would appreciate it.

    Regards,
    Jim

Hector got me out of an IO jam recently too. I talked to another person at AJA too, and Hector seemed
    to know his stuff better.
