Issues with Deinterlace
I’m trying to make a QuickTime file for the web from a DVD of an HDTV 1080i broadcast. I’ve tried deinterlacing a few different ways but none have fully worked. It ends up looking terrible with traces of interlace.
I’ve tried deinterlacing with MPEG streamclip when converting the file from .VOB to .mov. In Final Cut I’ve tried using the de-interlace filter with both upper and lower field dominance. I’ve tried using the shift fields filter on it’s own and along with the deinterlace filter in all possible combinations. Does anyone have a suggestion?

A DVD is SD not HD, regardless of the original source. Not sure what you have done with the Streamclip rip or how it does a deinterlace, but Compressor will do a better job of deinterlacing. Use Frame controls to deinterlace.
Experiment with a short section to see what settings work best.Also search this forum for deinterlace as it is a common and well answered topic
