I am using a Sony FX7 with the Sony HDV63M tapes. I noticed last week that when I imported my video, one clip that should have been 10 minutes long, was actually 3 clips. I re-imported the clip and it cut again in the same spots. I think I actually lost ~ 1-2 second between clips.

It then happened again last week. Different tape, same camera. I believe it is either a tape issue or a camera issue. The camera is 2 years old. The tapes are the same (just be chance both tapes I used are 2 years old). The tapes have not been used heaps (maybe 15 projects total). How long should I keep/use a tape? Any ideas what could be causing this?

You reuse tapes 15 times!!! I have never reused a tape and I’ve never experienced a dropout with my Sony HVR-Z1U. I’ve heard of people reusing a tape maybe once or twice but never 15 times. I’d say that is definitely your problem.
