  • Issues on Audio used as Sound effector

Posted by Manny Rellesiva on January 15, 2010 at 1:45 pm

I used a sound effector and picked a .wav audio file. I edited the wav file in Premiere Pro – I just combined two wav files. I chose 16bit 48Khz for the .wav file then exported it. When I imported it in Cinema 4D, the wav file failed to play- it has no sound and the particles used in the cloner objects did not move. I have other wav file used as an example in a tutorial (how to use sound effector) i found and it played just fine inside Cinema 4D. My question is why this wav file played while my exported wav file failed to play inside Cinema 4D. Are there properties settings I have missed when I exported audio from premiere? Please help.

There are a number of different formats for .wav files. I always use “Windows PCM” and it works fine.

I am having this exact problem. I’m following a Digital Tutors tutorial on the Sound Effector, and their included wav audio file worked, but my own wav file did not. I have addressed this in their forum, but thought I’d seek help here, and it looks like someone else has the same issue, but no solution is posted.

I’m using a Mac, so if anyone knows an answer, or if I get one on DT, let’s share.

    Thanks!

From the help file for the sound effector:

    The following is supported:

    .wav or.aif
    11,22 and 44kHZ
    8 or 16 bit

    Hope that helps…

Thanks, but it seems that the file fits those specs. Yet it’s not playing in C4D.

So the effector is not only NOT playing, but it’s NOT causing the effector to do anything? Is that correct?

    I put together a test file…

See if this works on your setup

    1116_audiotest.zip

Also here are the settings for my audio out of SoundBooth

Let me know if that helps.

The wav file was given to me. So no, initially, C4D wasn’t responding to it. However, I exported it out of Soundtrack Pro with 44.1 kHZ and 16bit as a wav file. I don’t know how to control the bit rate to make it conform to 11, 22. Nor did I se a way to make the file 44 instead of 44.1.

As-is, C4D’s Frequency Graph DOES respond to the file now. However, it’s just noise with no distinguishable beat or melody.

I assume this is because the file is still not at the proper specs. The audio bit rate alone is way over 11, 22. It’s past 1 million! I think that if I can figure out how to change the audio bit rate, it’ll work.

44.1 is correct, they just round in the help file.

I posted a file with the audio included as well as an image of the settings from Soundbooth. You said 44.1 16 bit wav which is correct. Are you using a compression on it? I used uncompressed and it works fine. If you have a chance, download the sample file I posted and see if it works in yours.

It seems that I failed to find the right option in Soundtrack Pro, and my Soundbooth crashes upon open, so I exported a wav file from QT, and it worked. Your file also worked.

Thank you for going above and beyond in helping me. I appreciate it!
