  • Issues and confusion in capturing to FCE

I’m newly using a panasonic dvx100a camera and have questions about capturing video from it to FCE.

I did a test shoot yesterday and when playing the tape in the camera to my TV, it looks pretty good. The image is clear and lit well. When I capture to FCE the image looks a bit pixelated like it is low resolution or something. I’m worried because I have to shoot some training footage today that I have to be able to capture to edit it and get it back to the client.

Any ideas of what I could be doing wrong in my capture that the video would appear to be low resolution when viewed in FCE? I tried exporting it as a DV file, to view it in quicktime to see if it looked any better. It didn’t. I need a full resolution image from the tape in FCE for editing.

    Help!

If your talking about playback you might not have a computer powerful enough so FCE brings down the quality. This has n effect on the final product, FC is set up to down grade playback if it can’t handle the data fast enough, this is so you can watch something with out a frame skip error popping up.

Also the capture window always looks pixellated and below frame rate.

    Hope this helps.
