Issue Capturing from Canon HV30 to Sony Vegas 10.0 Platinum
Hello!!
I’ve been trying to capture video off my my mini dv tapes from my Canon hv30 using Vegas 10.0 Platinum HD. I have a ton of old footage that I’m trying to get onto my laptop hard drive. I have a sony vaio Intel core 2 dual cpu 2.6ghz w/ 4 gigs of ram and a 1394 firewire input. Canon hv30 is connected via Firewire directly to the laptop.
My footage is all shot in HDV @ 60i, not 24 or 30P. I am able to capture video to Vegas, but when I do, Sony Vegas breaks up my tapes into multiple clips, seemingly at random times. I’ve tried to capture the same tape 3 different times, and Vegas broke it into different clips every time. The longest I was able to get it to go in a single clip has been 57 minutes. I have unchecked the box “enable scene detection for HDV”, and that seems to have done nothing. I have tried over 10 different tapes and some of the tapes multiple times. No matter what I do, Vegas seems to randomly break my tapes into clips. I’m not showing any dropped frames, which would be the only reason it should do this. When I watch the videos on my camcorder or TV, the tapes play seamlessly, with no pauses or breaks int eh footage. My videos are mostly live music shows, which I would like to keep in a single clip for continuity and ease of workflow.
Does anyone know why Vegas is doing this to me or how to make it stop??
Any help would be so greatly appreciated, as I’ve been at this for over 72 hours and I’m about to pull my hair out!!
Thanks in advance!!!!
