  • Is Tiger 10.4.2, FCP 5.1 and Quicktime 7.0.4 Stable?

Posted by Hoop Dreams on July 14, 2006 at 9:09 pm

For the last two weeks I’ve been having issues with Tiger 10.4.7, FCP 5.1.1 and Quicktime 7.1.

I was reading on here that Tiger 10.4.2, FCP 5.0.2. and QT 7.0.4. is stable. My only problem is that I don’t have 5, but 5.1. so if anyone knows how stable that combo is, I would be greatful.

    Thanks in advance, Ian

With 5.1.1 you do NOT want to step back. If you’re having stability issues, I would suggest you run something like Disk Warrior on your system drive to see if there are any errors.

FCP 5.1.1, 10.4.7, QT 7.1 is rock solid here and I haven’t really heard much about stability issues with this setup.

I was having trouble with my slower and older Macs on 10.4.7, turns out that removing my KVM switch helped greatly. Appears that Tiger is more sensitive to 3rd party hardware and bad RAM than past versions of OS X.
