  • Is this my offline files problem?

I may have found the problem I’m having with offline media, but I’m not sure. Let me explain. I named my files LASTDAY-1, and it shows this way in my media viewer. However, when I go into my capture scratch to reconnect them manually, by the way, I have to use the all files option rather than the video files option, the files show up in the capture scratch as LASTDAY-1-AV-1, LASTDAY1-AV-2, LASTDAY1-AV-3. So in the capture scratch folder there are many files related to “LASTDAY-1”. Could this be part of my problem with reconnecting the media? To reconnect, “LASTDAY-1” shouldn’t that file be listed as simply “LASTDAY-1”.
    Thanks,
    Chris

Any file with AV in the name was not captured properly for one reason or another. When capturing, if you pull up the file directory that you are capturing to, you will see that FCP creates a temporary file with AV in the file name, which goes away automatically after the video file has completed capturing properly.

The biggest cause of this is that your capture drive was formatted as FAT32, with a 2GB file size limit. Most drives off the shelf come with that format. You need to reformat as MacOS Extended to get the drive to stop doing this.

When you reconnect, reconnect to the first one, all the rest are tied to that one.
