  • Is there any plug-in to simulate JPEG compression?

I’ve spent decades retouching photos, and one aspect I always find frustrating is constantly having to export documents as JPEGs at various different quality settings, then import all the JPEGs back into the image to find one that best matches the compression of the original image.

It would be so helpful if you could have adjustment layers which JPEG-ified the image.

Just wondered if anyone knows a plug-in that can do this?

    TinyPNG
The free version of this plugin allows you the optimization of approximately 100 images per month and you can’t upload more than 20 files at once. The plugin grants you to choose when to compress images in the background, upload, or not compress them automatically at all.

Yes, John, on internet a lot of plugins and tools available such as https://www.irfanview.com/ and there is a convenient online tool for JPEG compression such as https://jpegcompressor.com/ to compress your images. It simplifies the process allowing you to find the best compression match for your original image without the need for complex plugin.
