Is there a way to Search Markers???
Posted by Paul Factora on June 7, 2009 at 9:15 pmI’ve marked & labeled about a thousand markers throughout 25 clips and wanted to somehow bring up a list of shots that had a specific actors name in the Marker dialog.
Is this even possible???
FCP 6.05
Thanks
Paul

June 7, 2009 at 11:06 pmThe clip in the browser, see how it now has a triangle (called a disclosure triangle) on the left of it? Click on it and you will see a list of your markers. And you can press CMD-F to find what you want.

June 7, 2009 at 11:38 pmyeah, that was the first thing I tried. It won’t give me a list, even when I type in clips and markers that I know are there it won’t give me a list. :

June 7, 2009 at 11:46 pmok wait.
this is weird. I click ‘Find Next’ and it will highlight the first item that matches in the bin.
I click ‘Find All’ and it tells me that nothing matches????

June 8, 2009 at 1:03 amHmmm…it’s working for me. I made 12 markers, 6 of them with the same word. I pressed CMD-F and typed the word. it highlighted it for me. I pressed CMD-G, it found the next one…then the next one, then the next one.
Worked fine.

June 8, 2009 at 1:44 amAre you doing that in the timeline? I think Paul is talking about the Browser. Digital Heaven has an app that will print out marker info.
All the best,

Yes, it’s a tawdry system at best. I hope that FCS gets a metadata overhaul whenever the next version hits the air waves.
I think that closing FCP and deleting any cache files helps with this. Sometimes simply relaunching the FCP project helps as it seems to add the new text into the database somewhere.
