Does anyone know if there is a way to reconnect clip affiliations within a fcp project?

I am working on an animated feature with thousands of stills and my project files tend to get too large to keep all sequences in one project. I find the labeling clip color feature very handy to see which stills are and are not used in each sequence.

Unfortunately FCP sometimes loses this affiliation going between projects, and overcutting thousands of stills is not an option.

    Any help?

I have been told “No” by the apple forums, but if anyone finds a work around, please let me know.

1 interesting thing I have found while playing with this problem.

If you copy/paste folders holding clips and sequences with affiliations, you will lose the affiliations, but if you highlight the files and sequences, but not the folder during copy/paste, affiliations will be retained.
