Sometimes i have a bunch of clips and subtitles I want to link all together. I dont like nesting cause then I can’t, directly in the timeline, mess with the clips. I need to do that within a separate, nested sequence. Is there any way to link together disparate items in the timeline without nesting them?

Other than nesting, your only option is to export them as a self contained file, then re-import them and cut those into your timeline.
