Is there a way to get more than 1 viewer?

I’ve only got dual screen editing…not multiple edits as an option. i am running Final Cut 5.0

Am I behind in the times or something?

What computer are you using? Make sure the monitor resolution is at least 1280xsomething (can’t remember the number). Make sure the dock isn’t cutting into that. If there isn’t enough screen space on your monitor multiple edits won’t be available in the Window menu.

Hmm not in front of my FCP but…Try opening the clip in the viewer by going file>open>whatever.mov then the clip should open in a viewer window by itself and u can open another clip in another viewer by selecting it in the browser. Thus a sneaky workaround for multiple viewers. To have even more viewers, open more clips via the file menu. Kinda messy but should work for u as u can edit in the new viewer.

Just tear the first viewer off by it’s tab and drag it somewhere else. The next clip will generate a new tab, and you can tear it off again. You can have viewers all over the place 😉

Control click on the new clip and choose, Open in New Viewer.

hold down option (alt) and then just double clip on the clip icons in the browser window

I’m not sure if anyone will read this now that it is so old and far down the list but here goes…

The suggestions are all great, I have gotten many viewer windows to appear, however in trying to track changes in multiple layers within the timeline at the same time, that have already been altered, I am still having difficulty.

All of these viewers only seem to appear on clips in the browser window and control-click gives no option in the timeline to open the window in a new viewer. Is this a limitation of the program? Or is there some way to make that happen too?
