  • Is there a way to convert a Movie Studio v12 project to Movie Studio v10?

Posted by Amy White on July 21, 2013 at 8:40 am

I’ve been using a trial version of Sony Vegas Movie Studio 12 for a project, but the trial expired before I could complete it. I managed to dig out my full version of Movie Studio 10 and I was hoping I could just carry on the project with that, but the v12 files are incompatible with v10. Is there any way I can convert the files so I can continue making my project in v10?

No, there is no way to go back. The Movie Studio 12 project file with have data structures that Movie Studio 10 will not understand because it doesn’t implement those features. You can go from 10 to 12 but not from 12 to 10.

No, sorry. New Vegas project files cannot be opened
    in older vegas versions.
The only solution that might work is if you copy the
entire timline/s from movie studio 12 and paste it in studio 10,
    and you go from there.

I didn’t suggest this because I assume that Movie Studio 12 will not open since the trial has expired so it’s too late for this method but if it did open, you could do a massive cut and paste.

I figured out that too John, but mentioned it to her
none the less. Just in case.
