  • Is there a way to “analyze and fix” several clips at once?

Posted by Pete Johnson on April 22, 2014 at 6:08 am

I am working on a project that has already been imported into FCPX and the clips have not been analyzed for color or audio so I was wondering if there’s a way to perform this task on several clips at once or will I have to do them one at a time? I hope there’s a way to do it because I have a few hundred clips.

Select the clips in the browser, right click, “Analyze and Fix…”.

Exactly. Just did it on a job I finished. Select all clips in timeline and changed to dual mono and loudness. Easy as pie.

I’ve tried selecting all the clips in the browser, right clicking, but “analyze and fix” is greyed out.

    Pete –

You might be selecting more than just video clips in the browser (perhaps compound clips or graphics, pdfs, etc…). Select a few clips at a time and right-click to see if it’s still grayed out. If it isn’t, then my recco would be to switch to list view and group by file type. Or create a smart search and set it to view Media Type. Select audio with video, video only, or audio only.

Thanks Michael that did the trick. I guess that I was selecting photos as well as videos, so when I followed your suggestions it worked perfectly.
