Is there a way copy the transform/effects when replacing low res with higher res photos
I have an entire project built out of low resolution photos. Now I am replacing those low res photos with higher res versions. When I copy the transform/effects from the low res and paste them into the higher res photos–the scale and position are all out of proportion. Is there a batch transfer or any other way to keep the image looking the same, but just have higher resolution?

AE doesn’t deal in resolution, to it pixels are pixels. This tut from Andrew uses Proxies, it might help before you start your next project:

I think you’d have to resize you Hi-res stuff to the size of your initial low res project. Do you have some specific numbers? How big was your initial comp, problem layers? If the comp’s large enough to use for you final output, you should be able to resize layers (scale) proportionally (the proportion of your low-res to high res) in AE or PhotoShop.
Maybe someone else will have a better answer.

I am new to AE. So I apologize in advance for my ignorance. When you say “Create a null, and parent the hi-rez picture to it.” Do I click on the null object–then select my hi-rez image in the drop down “parent” menu, or do I click on the hi-rez image–then select the null object in the drop down “parent” menu.

The Null needs to be the Parent of the photos ….
create a null, then select all the layers that are photos, then for those layers that you’ve just selected you need to choose the Null layer from the parent drop down box ….. or just drag the little spiral icon to the Null Layer ….
then if you scale or move the Null, all the photos will change too!
