Is there a subtitle plugin for FCPX 10.1.1 that mimics the YouTube ‘transcribe and sync’ captions?

I’ve had good results with DH_SubtitleX by Digital Heaven $29.99 plugin.

You do have to do the work. It works as a Title in FCP X. You have to do the transcription, then enter the text directly into DH_SubtitleX. Timing has to be set visually and manually, but it works nicely.

Annotation Edit will export to youtube captions and can import from a variety of formats.Also has a transcription Service.

Have you tried my X-Title Import app. It supports Subrip SRT, Youtube SBV and Spruce STL.

I forgot to mention that there is also an app which allows to export subtitles from FCPXML.

There is also an additional subtitle template which can be used to setup subtitles for HD using the European (EBU) rules. It allows to show the EBU standard vertical cell height. This way when using a certain font the font size and paragraph leading can be adjusted to match the rules.

So for ‘large’ subtitles you setup the lines should cover 2 cell heights, for ‘small’ subtitles it should cover 1 cell height. For both including descenders and paragraph leading.
The ‘grid’] ‘cell’ rules only apply to burned in subtitles for standard broadcast. Web based broadcast does have different rules. But the lines are also a good help here to set up subtitles – never go into the bottom or top cell.

The reason I did this template is that Apple is going towards to support system wide the WEBVTT and TTML standards.
With X 10.1 they did the first step for FCP X.
Using the right subtitle template each position can be extracted to make your subtitles fit the needs of the delivery format.
