Is Quadro Performance Affected by CPU?
Nvidia quotes performance acceleration gains using a dual Intel Xeon E5 s687W3 as the base system.
What happens to performance when you are using less powerful CPU’s?
For example, if the Quadro GPU delivers 15 times more performance with the Dual Xeon configuration CPU set, will the performance acceleration be greater that 15 times if you are using a single intel i7 processor?
Or is performance related to how powerful the base CPU is? If that is the case, will you get 15 times the performance on an i7 or will it be less?
Does anyone have any benchmarks using single i7 processors?

The answer is probably yes but only by looking at the system as a whole – with Xeon systems you’re probably looking at larger.faster memory busses then you’d ever find on an i7 motherboard. As to performance degradation… I wish I could say a percentage but I’d wait until someone like tomshardware can benchmark it.

Benchmarks are hard to use as a guide, but keep in mind the data has to get to the GPU and be routed back…all that takes system power.
If the CPU is maxed out…chances are pretty good that the GPU is waiting around for frames.
