I loath STP and from what I am reading Logic is not the right choice either. We record anything from 3 person pod casts to telephone interviews and need sends/receives plus talk back for our booth. We don’t do much round tripping with FCP but on occasion send stuff over for mix down. We usually can get by with FCP tools.

Currently using STP with MOTU Ultralite and hate having a physical mixer, a soft mixer (MOTU) and having to toggle to STP for recording.
Would LE with the say the 003 Rack and Factory work? Would a control surface be beneficial?

I can’t get a local demo so I need to turn to the industry.

Thanks for any insight or useful links!

It depends on how you feel about Pro tools and the budget you are working with. If money is not an issue and you already know how to use Pro Tools, go with LE. On the other hand, if you are working on tight budget then go with Cockos Reaper. The price/quality ratio is heads above Pro Tool LE. Just be aware there is a slight learning curve with Reaper.
