I’ve heard that we should not rename the clips Logged & tranfered from XDCAM EX Cards taking the risk of nevere more being able to relink any footage …. We stay with many clips named with a bunch of number and on a long sequence on timeline we can’t see or say if any particular clip of the sequence belongs or not to, for example, to Scene 15 recorded.

    Is it all true ?
    Thanks.

You can rename the clips in FCP7 as clip name and file name doesn’t have to be the same. You have the option to rename the files to match the clip name (which you don’t want to do) or rename the clip to match the file later. I think this was the case with FCP6 as well, but not before that though.
