  • Is it possible to word-wrap with the text media generator?

Posted by Morgan Lewis on July 9, 2013 at 6:33 pm

I’m using Sony Vegas Pro 10c, I’m trying out the Text generator to put text on screen.. but it seems bizzarely hard to place a lot line of text on screen, there doesn’t appear to be an option to word-wrap so the text goes off screen, and when I try to put some of the sentence underneath it’s very finicky…

Is Vegas Pro 10’s text generator really this tragically bad?

No…. It handles things differently, so its just to
know how to be creative using it.

Start off with one of the “Credits” canned entries. See how it wraps in that particular event. Copy it, edit the copy. Save it as your own with a unique name: “Wrapping Text” instead of “Credits” in the media generator editor window.

Can you outline the steps that you’re going through to get to the text generator you’re using? I think the Pro Titler does not wrap.

Word wrap, or any justification type, implies the concept of margins or a bounding box or sorts. Vegas does not have this concept like page layout programs do.

Take titles and text and protype for example. Changing the size of a text objects bounding box in the preview window scales the text inside. It does not change the boundaries in which to format text. So you set text size via a combination of font size and scale factor.

In a page layout program the bounding box defines the boundaries in which to flow/format text.
