Is it possible to record 4 audio tracks from external source with HVX200?
Hi everybody,
we are preparing a new project and we want to use Panasonic HVX200 for it. Problem is, that we need to record sound from four independent source, but the HVX200 has only two XLR inputs. As I know, there are some adapters, which enable to expands inputs for some cameras (JVC for example). Does anybody knows if there is some solution for HVX200?

You could record to an external recorder as many pro shoots do- the Aaton Cantar X2, for example has 8 tracks:

With the HVX200’s onboard audio, you are limited to 2 tracks of external input. Which as Shane points out could indeed be a feed from a 4-channel mixer. That means you are married to the 4 channel mix rather than maintaining 4 discrete channels however. So it depends what’s most important to your project.

The HPX500 has four independent XLR inputs, but the 200 only has the two XLRs; the other two channels come from the built-in mic.
It’s possible to modify an HVX to replace the microphone with external inputs, but I doubt the work is worth it. Someone on DVXUser did it, you could search and see photos I guess.
