  • Is it possible to print the FCP X timeline index?

Posted by Mark Landman on September 13, 2015 at 10:21 pm

The timeline index window has become more and more useful the more I use FCP X. One thing that would be really useful would be the ability to print the contents of the timeline index. I’ve tried without success to find a way to do it. Does anyone know if this is possible within the program, or if there is a plug-in that will do it?

    Thanks,

Nope. Apple has never let you print anything. Bins, events, etc. from it’s motion graphics and editing apps. Seems like an oversight, but after 15 years I’m starting to think they don’t want me to print anything. Maybe that makes FCP X a “green” app that saves trees.

That’s what I was afraid of. I guess asking to be able to export timeline index data to a spreadsheet is out of the question then.

    Thanks for the reply Bret.

I know some people have done nifty things with XML. Perhaps you could export the timeline as XML and pull the data from there in some fashion, but I’d not be the one to ask about that.

It looks like it’s time to learn how to parse XML code.

Not what you want but you could do a screen capture of the time line index and print that.

That may be just what I’m looking for.

    Thanks Jari.
