  • Is it possible to BREAK a mask?

Posted by Jesper Hellvik andersen on September 26, 2007 at 7:36 pm

I know it’s possible to join the first and the last vertex of a path to make a closed mask. Is this possible in reverse?

e.g. A flame has been autotraced (outlined) and now I want to apply an animated Stroke to it, but it has to start at both sides at the bottom and meet up at the point at the top. I know I could draw the outline (two paths) myself….but if it was possible to break it instead that would save me some time…

    so…anyone?

    This works for me.

Select, click on, the mask between two mask points, Right Click and uncheck “Closed”. You should now have an open mask with a gap where the line was you selected.

If you want to cut an open mask in two, the only way I know is to duplicate the mask, then lock one, on the unlocked one, select and delete the vertices you don’t want, then switch the locks (unlock if locked, lock if unlocked) and delete the other masks vertices you don’t ant..
