December 10, 2010 at 7:12 amthe delay is a by product of whats going on in the background. because the video is being processed and “rendered” in real time, a bit of a wait is to be expected…one of the nice things about color is there is no delay between the display and the monitor but then you have to render out later. thats why you also have audio sync problems…you have to pass the audio through a delay to get the pic in sync with the sound….again in color there is no sound so you can listen to your celine dion tracks all day while grading away in peace!

You have sync problems for audio/video if you playback through a video card and watch the video on your computer monitor in the FCP GUI. If you look at the video monitor however, everything is in sync. It’s the same case in DaVinci.

I grade an image (stopped, not in playback), my movements on the GUI monitor (with Wave Panel) appear with 10 images latency on the projector. Between my eyes and my hand there are 10 images latency. Then all my corrections are late. This is a real problem.
