Is Final Cut Express and iDVD up to par for doing weddings?
Hi Video Pros,
I looking at getting into doing wedding videography and am wondering if basic programs like Final Cut Express and iDVD are up to the task of rendering high quality DVDs for that purpose. I currently use a consumer level camera (Canon HF 10) with these programs and find the end product (i.e. the DVD) a bit weak in terms of the quality of the video signal. It’s as if the video is alway about to start flickering (though, it never actually does). I feel this quality is not something I’d like to pass out to my customers.
Is the problem likely in the quality of the camera? Or is it likely elsewhere, such as in the quality of these programs (or, perhaps in my inability to tweak them properly so as to output a more robust signal on the DVD)?
Anyone use these programs for output to DVD and have any advice?

Hi Vic,
Both applications bounds you to work with the Apple Intermediate codec which will add more compression to your already compressed footage.
You can get better quality with application that allows a less compressed workflow.
FCP, FCPX, Premier or AVID will let you to get a better product.
