    Hi,

I was thinking of getting a Turbo.264 HD but heard it was buggy when used with FCP Export Move. Is this true.

I have one a few years ago but found the quality of the video was not excellent, what do people think.

I have been playing with Handbrake to compress export export. It wont work for ‘Current Settings’ export but DVCPRO works well. Haven’t tried using it for HD yet. What do people think. Is there fast software that can compress native FCP QT? It is almost realtime alough is 2 manual processes.

    Ben

    Hi Ben,
You can download the “x264 QT Component”.
Same quality than handBrake but inside QT and no problem with Prores stuff.

Have you tried the Matrox Max? or Compress HD?

I routinely use it…I’ve always wondered how it compares to the Elgato, which I’ve not had any exposure to. I absolutely rave about the max compression…it’s crazy fast and very high quality.

If you aren’t on a tower, you have to buy at minimum MXO2 Mini which isn’t as inexpensive as the PCI card for a tower.

Elgato Turbo.264 HD won’t work with FCP X, as explained on the Elgato website:

You could save out Reference files and drop those into the Elgato Application.
    Problem solved!
