  • Is analog component useless on Decklink?

I can’t get proper gain on analog component input on Decklink SP. Even when I set Processing gain to maximum (1.76) the whites are not what they should be.

I wonder if I’d have the same problem capturing HD analog with HD Extreme. If so a digital only card with a quality external converter should do the trick.

Component output on SP seems fine. I compared it with another component converter and I could find no difference.

    Hi Peter,

We need to know if this is happening only with one source or across multiple sources. Some variances may be present when capturing analog video which is why we have the pro-amps but if you find that you have this is happening across multiple VTRs, then there may be a problem with the card’s input.

I did the test with two sources, Beta SP and DAC10 DV to component video converter. The result is the same on both. When I adjust gain to maximum the whites are still noticeable lower compared to the source.
