is AE my best choice of application for introducing 3:2 pulldown?
I’ve been creating motion graphics image sequences at 24 fps using After Effects (version 7). I ultimately will be editing footage with Final Cut Pro for NTSC – DV, and I am wondering what the recommended workflow would be. I am prepared to use After Effects to convert my targa sequences to QuickTime DV files. I would render my sequences with field rendering turned on and have AE introduce 3:2 pulldown so as to properly interlace the footage (I have had success doing this before). However, I don’t know if maybe I should just create a QuickTime reference movie for each targa sequence at 24 fps and then bring those footage element into Final Cut and let FC worry about rendering them so they match the rest of my NTSC-DV project. Does FCP automatically introduce 3:2 pulldown for proper interlacing of a footage element that is 24 fps? I have to “render” the image sequences at some point anyway, so my inclination is to get it out of the way before I begin working in FCP. Any reason why I *shouldn’t* render out to interlaced DV footage with AE? Any reason why I *should* be letting FCP convert a 24 fps element to interlaced dv footage?
I realize this may be more of a FCP question than an AE question. I’ve posted this same question over in Apple’s FCP discussion forum as well. I’m just hoping to hear what the different opinions are.
