Is 8GB RAM enough on the 2.6 Retina Macbook Pro?

I’ve just been sent an 8GB Retina Macbook Pro by accident when I ordered a 16GB. I’ve been offered a hefty discount/refund for my trouble if I go with the one I’ve been sent.
I only do moderate editing: a few corporates, but nothing requiring elaborate effects – some straightforward color correcting. I do mix formats though – the last project I cut used HDV, DVCProHD and AVCHD in the same timeline.
I don’t want to jeopardise being able to send it back by opening it up and trying it out – has anyone else got the same spec and is it OK?

You can live with 8GB for sure. But I’ve never heard anybody regret having more RAM in there computer. And remember that whatever you have in that MBP from the factory is all you’re ever gonna have. The RAM is not user-replacable. So will this be enough RAM for you in 2, 3, or 4 years when you’re still using that machine to do all work?
Unless they gave me $500-$750 off the price of the computer, I’d send it back and get more RAM. And if they gave me that much off the computer, I’d turn around and sell it on eBay or Craigslist, pocket the extra change and go get the computer with more RAM! 😉

In the end they’ve offered to give me a free upgrade to the 2.7 model as they didn’t have the 2.6 in stock.
