I need to create a short (10 sec) video ala the “ipod” commercials:
[silo moving figure against flat color background]
Can anyone point me in a direction to get help on how I can do this?

I am an animator mainly. (After Effects, Maya, etc…)
But I do have some skills with a digital camcorder.

    Thanks very much!

shoot the people on a green screen then bring the hue all the way down for that dark look….if you look closely at the ipod spots the people arent completely black the close ups show slight color…but the way i told you is the poor mans way…ha

Did you searched on Cow Archives?

That question was so popular 1 year ago.

yeah check the archives because it was asked and talked about A LOT.

Basically shoot greenscreen. Key the footage. Pull out the color (hue/sat) then use levels to crush down the gammas and blacks till the figure is almost black but with a little detail still in there.

    go to

C M I V F X.com and there is a tutorial on it (using Shake) but same principal.

I wrote a tutorial on this technique called “Shooting for 3D post”. Check it out and let me know if you have any specific questions.
