Need to upload high-res HD .mov to Instagram from iphone so H264 is too low quality but can’t get my iphone 7 to play ProRes. Apple support is clueless. Any tips?

My iphone7 ios 10.3.3, video was cut on fcp7 and compressed via compressor.

Just render out a high bitrate .h264, I’ve found the quality to be very good, Instagram will only crush it back down anyway.

I’ve tried that already. After instagram compresses it it looks horrible. ProRes is the way to go, just need the settings for iphone.

Pretty sure you can’t play Prores on iPhone

IOS is optimised for h264 and more recently h265. ProRes isn’t supported natively but you can get various apps, such as Infuse, that can play it – or at least the lower-end versions such as Proxy, LT and maybe 422 depending on your processor and the resolution.
