I am live capturing into an IO LA uncompressed 8 bit. The first show was 57min. The second was 1:48min. I went into FCP and edited, all was fine, final output will be on DVD. When I sent the program to compressor to MPEG it I got 40-70 hour estimates, I left it for 6 hours and it did not drop below 72 hours. This is an 8 core Mac Pro, 8 gig ram. The IO will not let me set up DV quality. What other settings can I try that are reasonible. I will have 5 more 2 hour + programs to capture. I have the drive space in the raid, but I cannot take weeks to mpeg the shows. is there a better way or is this the uncompressed world. I have never used 8 bit uncompressed before, it does not seem reasonable.

    thanks,
    Jerry Parker

Stop reading and compressing from the same drive and watch those times change.

Uncompressed footage should render the fastest of any footage.

More info on your set up would be helpful. since my guess is there are other issues-( not current software for one)
