ioHD freezes up!! – 5 times in 1 day
Posted by Jordan Dertinger on February 15, 2008 at 8:34 pmI searched around and couldn’t find a thread on this. My ioHD, along with 2 others in nearbye edit bays seems to freeze up a lot. I’ll be editing using it for HD and audio ref, and it suddenly freezes. I can still edit in FCP, just the AJA is locking up. It gets really old quick, especially when you have to shut down to restart the AJA everytime.
I take it this is a pretty common problem, since its happening on the only 3 ioHD’s we have here. They are all updated with the latest firmware. Could this be from overheating, they don’t get that hot?

February 15, 2008 at 8:44 pmWe have had to reboot 5 times today because the audio totally goes away. I have been informed by AJA that a new release is coming any day that fixes this issue.
I think they should work on it all weekend since that is what we have to do when their product isn’t working right.

the only time I am seeing my 4 iohd lock up is went it is on the same FW buss as anything else.
All AJA Io products need to be on a dedicated FW buss ( and yes FW400 and FW800 are the same bus on all apple computers)

February 15, 2008 at 9:01 pmEach ioHD is on their own bus with nothing else attached. I made sure to get separate PCI cards for each edit station for connecting additional firewire devices.

February 16, 2008 at 3:05 amThis happened to me when I first got my ioHD. I swapped the firewire 800 cable and everything is now cool.

February 16, 2008 at 3:01 pmHi,
I just received this link for a new driver that addresses the freeze problem
https://www.aja.com/ajashare/AJA IoHD Software 5.1.1 fc1.tar
I don’t think they would mind if I gave it to you
Hope it works for you.

February 16, 2008 at 5:40 pmIf those are Beta drivers, they might mind. You should ask before sending them out.

February 17, 2008 at 12:44 amSorry, you are right. Is there a way to take the post down?
Although they never told me they were beta.

Just clear it with AJA, first. If it’s not cool, then write Creative Cow. I imagine those drivers will be out soon to the public anyway.

to second that — not cool, Aja does not post or release “public betas” for any of their products.
