io rs-422 issue
Hi guys,
have FCP4.5, G% and Aja io. recently added a UVW-1800 to the mix and am having a little problem (I am running this same thread to the IO forum as well)
Whenever I try to either capture or “edit to tape” the software gets “hung up” and won’t connect. I’ve checked my settings and 422 devices and they seem to correspond. They even worked the first few times a day or two ago, but something went wrong. I have repaired disk permissions, trashed preferences and have had no luck. can anyone suggest anything or has had a similar problem. thanks.Rick

I’ve been using a Keyspan USB/serial adapter for deck control for all my FCP and Avid setups [you’l have to change the deck control function in the Deck Control tab of A/V Settings] and have had no problems so far in 3 years. I intentionally bypassed the FW IO connection for precisely your problem, so maybe it’s worth the $60 to try it out. Also, I Edit to Tape from the Viewer rather than the canvas, which was a workaround for a variety of problems with FCP 4.0 whenit first came out. It’s an old habit now, though I still swear by it. See what happens…
