iO or Kona3?
We have several edit suites with Kona 3 cards, and we are adding another room. Thinking of getting an iO express instead of a Kona card because A) we have rooms to do all the big iO layback, ect. and B) the iO express can work in Avid
We are thinking of switching to Avid, and I am aware of the Aja / Avid rumors with MC6. But again – this will always be the “junior” edit suite – so does it need all the power of a Kona card.
My question is – what will I be missing, or not able to do that I am used to with my Kona card. Again, I really just need playback to my monitors/HDTV

You will not have Up and cross conversion. Dual link. 2K.
You will still have SDI/HDMI/Analog (a/v) monitoring and Rs422.
You will have SDI/HDMI video in.
You will gain LTC in and out.
You will have an io device that will work with Avid when you download the free trial. 🙂
