Can someone please advise on best workflow from XDcam EX express 34 card to pro res 422? ie do I import into FCP using XDcam transfer making QT’s first and then put those QT’s into compressor to make pro res 422 files? OR Is there some way to take native sony EX files straight into compressor? OR is there some way to have conversion made straight into FCP.

I ask this because I edit on 17″ laptop in the field with raid array and IO HD. Desktop is not an option and thus working in xdcam ex is to labor intensive for my laptop processor.

    Thanks for any help,

    T

Why not take component out of the camera into the IOHD and capture with vtr exchange directly and bypass xdcam altogether?

It is possible to come in SDI from the EX to ioHD SDI in, to ProRes live. So I have been told. Then you stay all digital.
