    Hi
I’m new to HDV and am editing a piece now. I’m trying to down convert to an NTSC monitor through my ioHD and can’t seem to get the right combination of easy setup and aja control panel settings. The footage is HDV 1080p24. I’m connected to the monitor from my ioHD via RGB presently because I usually edit betacam. I’m assuming that the down-convert is doable. Can anyone help me out?

    Thanks!

your hdv vtr outputs it’s signal as 1080i 29.97, not 24. It has a 2:3 pulldownconverter built in. Capture in 1080i 2997. Set your primary in control panel for 1080i 29.97, and your secondary (in the format tab) for 525 29.97. Then your downconvert will work, when you choose the analog tab, and select secondary.

is your footage truly 24p or is it 29.97?

    Thanks Guys

I got it working by adjusting Finalcut playback setting to AJA IoHD 1080i29.97 Apple ProRes 422 and Setting AJA’s control panel – format tab to 525129.97, analog output to secondary and analog format to component SMPTE.
