Inverted matte
Hi everyone, I had finally figured it out for Final Cut and had moved to Adobe Premiere due to working not having Final Cut, but what I want to do is to draw attention to one part of the screen by using a matte to go over the whole image but have one section in the middle (my attention spot) not be matted over.
I hope that makes sense. Think of it as blurring out everything around a face except the face itself. That’s what I need to do (except a square instead of a circle).

Track one: clip with e.g. Fast Blur
Track two: same clip with Track Matte effect set to track three
Track three: white retangular (made in the tiler) with a Fast Blur for feather.

Thanks for your reply. I don’t want the grayed out spots to blur, but more like just graying out the outside area except a focus spot in the middle. Would I use the same concept without the blur?
