Ok, I have a feeling there is a two click answer to my question, but I’ve dug through the Final Cut menus and searched help list to no avail.

After having two interns work on our editing system this summer numerous preferences and settings were messed with. Thanks!

Now every output; whether through compressor, a QT movie or a QT conversion, comes out about 25% lighter than what my timeline is showing on the canvas while editing the project. Any Ideas?

I was kind of guessing it might be something along those lines, but don’t know where in the menu that would be adjusted.

Ok, I just ran a Mpeg4 and it looks clean as a whistle. So, yes I think it is the Quicktime settings in Final Cut but does anyone know where those preferences live in the FCP menu?

Not sure if this will help
But if you open quicktime – preferences – general
at the very bottom check the box that says:
“enable Final Cut Studio color compatibility”
I did this in Quick time 7 an the changes seem to have transferred over to quicktime X
Now my time line seems the same as the output

    good luck
