Interpret Footage – Preserve Edges (For Best Quality Only)

Do you guy’s always check this option for all your footage? I never really know if this should be something to do with all footage imported?

Thanks in advance for your help!

This is a funcion that deinterlaces in a smart way, using all the information from interlaced footage with still objects and guessing with parts of the image that arent equal in odd and even fields.

Formerly it was called something like “Clever deinterlace” or so (correct me if I’m wrong). I don’t really know why the name was changed.

Thanks for your response. That is a really deceiving option. I would have never guessed that was for deinterlacing.

Anyone know if using this slows anything down in AE? Puzzles me why it wouldn’t just be the ‘standard’ de-interlacing option otherwise?!

It does slow down, indeed. But as it says, it’s only on with Best Quality settings.
