  • Interlacing Problems, Final cut pro x, PLEASE ASSIST ME!!

    Hey guys,

I guess I’m fairly new to the video editing game, but up until now i’ve been learning and having fun with it.
before I get into the technicalities I’m using a macbook pro I bought in july 2012, final cut pro X, and film with a Sony HDRCX190.

My issue is that I have edited a full 6 minute clip of my mates and I riding our bikes and doing whatever we do, it all looks fine in the timeline, where you can see what you’ve edited so far, not glitchy or grainy and no interlace issues. HOWEVER, as soon as I export the video, IN ANY FORMAT, I get massive interlace problems, and it looks absolutely terrible.

Now I know it’s not my camera or computer that’s the problem, because a couple of weeks ago, I made this clip… https://vimeo.com/46879353
Im very happy with the outcome quality wise from that video.

Now I have not changed a single thing on the camera, computer or in Final cut since making the above video, so why on earth all of a sudden am I getting such a bad result?

I have tried ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING to try and get rid of this, every method on google for pages on end.

ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED, THANKS IN ADVANCE!

    Your camera only shoots interlaced…

Video Format : HD: MPEG4-AVC/H.264 AVCHD 2.0 format compatible; STD: MPEG2-PS
    Video Mode : HD FX: Approx. 24Mbps / FH: Approx. 17Mbps / HQ: Approx. 9Mbps / LP: Approx. 5Mbps; STD HQ: 9Mbps

I wold look for a deinterlace option in the export. If you watch your video on a tv,you won’t see the interlace issues as TV is interlaced. Computer displays are progressive..so you see the interlace issues.

I’m not sure what answer you are looking for, but I think you should change your project settings to 1080p instead of 1080i.

    1) In you Project LIbrary select you project (not open it)
    2) With the project marked click on the little ‘Wrench’ on the right in middle – just above the ‘i’-icon
    3) Change the video proporties to ‘1080p HD’

When exporting your photage will be progresive – not interlaced.
